From 1st July 2016 the LCA has increased the frequency of members audit from every two years to every year. This is in the ‘common aim of improving standards’ and billed within the LCA Newsletter as ‘Good News for the Industry’.
The additional audit will be used by the assessors ‘to pay more detailed attention to service delivery standards’ which we believed to already be very high, considering the low reported incidence of legionellosis.
Whether it transpires to further benefit our clients will remain to be seen but unfortunately with the doubling of audit procedures comes the doubling of associated costs incurred by member companies.
No doubt LCA remains the primary benchmark organisation within the Legionella Control industry sector but bear in mind that with client expectations of using member companies, in order to ensure the competency of a specialist suppliers, comes at an additional cost.
That may less than good news for anyone in the current financial climate!
